11 Day Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo

DAY 1 – Arrive in Cairo, Hotel Check-In and Free Time

Welcome to Cairo. When you arrive at the airport, your assigned tour manager will be there to meet and greet you, and they will then escort you to the hotel where you will be staying for the first night of your trip. Our tour manager will assist you with check-in and then confirm a pick-up time for the following day. After that, he will leave, and you will have the remainder of the day to spend as you wish.

DAY 2 – Fly to Luxor for your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and then at the time which was confirmed with you yesterday, you will be met by your tour manager, and you will be escorted to the airport in Cairo where you will board a flight to Luxor so that you can board your Nile cruise from Luxor to Cairo.

When you land at Luxor Airport, another one of our tour managers will meet you, and you will be taken in a modern air-conditioned vehicle to board your 5-Star river cruise ship. After checking in on board the ship, you will then have the remainder of the day free to enjoy as you wish. Lunch and dinner will be served aboard the cruise ship, and you will be spending the night in your deluxe cabin on the Nile at Luxor.

DAY 3 – Full Day Sightseeing in Luxor – West Bank and East Bank Monuments

Start your day with a good breakfast on the Nile, and then you will disembark, and you will be taken to see two of the best ancient attractions on Luxor’s West Bank: Valley of the Kings, which is home to 62 old tombs, including the tomb of Tutankhamen, and then the vast mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. These are two of the most visited sites in Egypt.

Return to your cruise ship after your tour and enjoy a bit of free time and a good lunch on board. At about 14h00, you will disembark again, and you will be taken to see the two best ancient attractions on the East Bank. First, you will visit the ruins of the famous Karnak Temple complex, and then you will visit the far more well-preserved Luxor Temple.

After your East Bank tour is over, you will return to your cruise ship where you will have some time for yourself before dinner is served in the evening. There will also be a traditional Egyptian Belly Dancing show on board the boat. Enjoy another night in your cabin on the Nile at Luxor.

DAY 4 – Sail to Qena and Dendara Temple Excursion

Begin your day with another good breakfast in the ships beautifully decorated restaurant, and then your Nile cruise from Luxor to Cairo really gets underway with a nice leisurely cruise to Qena. Shortly after arriving in Qena, you will disembark, and you will enjoy a visit to the ancient Dendara Temple where you will be given a guided tour.

Once you are finished at Dendara Temple, you will return to the cruise ship, and the rest of the day will be yours to enjoy as you please. There will also be a very entertaining Contest Party onboard. As usual, a good lunch and a good  will be served on board the ship, and tonight you will be staying in your cabin on the Nile at Qena.

DAY 5 – Sail to Sohag via El Balyana with Abydos Temple Excursion

Shortly after breakfast, your cruise ship will depart from Qena, and it will cruise Balyana via the impressive Naga Hammadi Bridge and Abu Homar’s Lock through which it will have to pass. Enjoy a good lunch on the water while cruising, and then once you arrive at Balyana, you will disembark for an excursion to see amazing ancient Abydos Temple.

After your tour of the temple, you will head back to the ship, and it will then set sail for Sohag. For entertainment today, there will be an onboard Relish Treasure Hunt which all passengers are welcome to take part in. Dinner will be served at the usual time in the evening, and you will spend this night of your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo on the Nile at Sohag.

DAY 6 – Leisure Cruise from Sohag to Tel El Amarna

Begin your day with another good onboard breakfast, and then enjoy a leisurely cruise to Tel El Amarna.  Along the way, your cruise ship will pass below Sohag Bridge, and it will also have to pass through Asyuit’s Lock.

Lunch will be served on board while you are sailing, and dinner will be served in the evening shortly after the ship arrives at Tel El Amana where it will tie up for the night. Tonight, you will be sleeping in your cabin on the Nile at Tel El Amarna.

DAY 7 – Tel El Amarna Excursion and Sail to Minya via Tuna El Gebel

Today, breakfast will be served a bit earlier than usual because you will be disembarking for a fascinating excursion at around 07h00. During this tour, you will be taken to see 5 ancient tombs: The Tomb of Ahmose (EA3); the Tomb of Meryre (EA4); the Tomb of Pentu (EA5); the Tomb of Panehesy (EA6), and the Royal Tomb of Akhenaten (EA26).

After visiting the tombs, you will then enjoy a visit to the Great Palace of King Akhenaten, as well as the Small and Great Temples of Aten. Once your tour ends, you will return to the cruise ship and it will cruise to Minya with a good lunch served along the way. You will enjoy a second excursion, this time to see Tuna El Gebel which is an ancient necropolis, and also the ruins of Ashmunein, an ancient city.

Dinner will once again be served in the evening, and then shortly after dinner, there will be a very entertaining Folkloric Show. Tonight you will be sleeping in your cabin on the Nile at Minya.

DAY 8 – Onshore Excursion at Minya and Sail to Beni Suif

The 8th day of your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo gets off to another early start today. Aftr you have had your breakfast, you will disembark, and you will driven to Beni Hassan to see another 4 ancient tombs. The drive from Minya Dock to Beni Hassan takes about 30 minutes, and once you reach the site, you will visit the Tomb of Baqet III (BH15); the Tomb of Khety (BH17); the Tomb of Amenemhet (BH2), and the Tomb of Khnumhotep II (BH3).

After your tour to these ancient tombs, you will be driven back to the ship, and it will then cruise to Beni Suif. Lunch and dinner will once again be served on board the ship, and there will also be a very entertaining Galabya Party on board. Tonight you will be sleeping on the Nile at Beni Suif

DAY 9 – Onshore Excursion at Beni Suif and Sail to Cairo

Begin the 9th day of your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo with another good onboard breakfast, and then you will enjoy a tour to Fayoum to see the amazing Dahshour Pyramids and the famous Maydom Pyramid. When your tour ends, you will return to your cruise ship, and it start sailing to Cairo.

Lunch will be served along the way, and then you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy as you wish. Your cruise ship should arrive in Cairo shortly before or shortly after dinner, and you will be spending this night of your cruise on the Nile in Cairo.

DAY 10 – Cairo Excursion to Giza Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum

Your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo has reached its final destination, but the fun is not over yet. Enjoy another good breakfast on board the cruise ship, and then shortly after that you will disembark for another amazing excursion.

First, you will be taken to visit the Egyptian Museum which is home to the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Next, you will be driven to see the Giza Pyramids, as well as the Sphinx and the Valley Temple, all of which are located in the same ancient necropolis. While at this site, you will also have the option of purchasing a ticket for the Solar Boat Museum which will then also allow you to enter one of the pyramids.

After your tour is complete, you will be driven back to your cruise, and lunch will be served. No further excursions are scheduled for the afternoon, so you are free to spend it as you wish. Today’s onboard entertainment will be Takht (Oriental music) and dinner will once again be served on board at the usual time. Enjoy the last night of your Nile cruise from Luxor to Cairo on the Nile in Cairo.

DAY 11 – Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo Ends – Disembarkation and Final Departure

Your Nile Cruise from Luxor to Cairo ends today, but only after you have had time to enjoy your breakfast. At the appropriate time, you will check-out and disembark. Your tour manager will meet you, and he will then escort you to Cairo International Airport in time for you to board your flight home.
